Guard Your Heart

As you spend time in the secular world, whether at work, school or in your neighborhood, you know there is a battle against the Word of God. So, how can you guard your heart against the barrage of fear and negativity? Keep your faith in action every day.

According to Proverbs 4, God says you must keep His Word constantly in your ears and in your heart. He says to guard your heart diligently. To be diligent means “to be hard-working, industrious and persevering.”

Why do you have to be so diligent with the Word? Because the devil is diligent with his junk. He is constantly throwing fiery darts at you. He works diligently to make sure the world is surrounding you with fear, sickness, poverty and every other kind of garbage he can use to destroy you. But you can protect your spirit from those things by conditioning yourself to respond to every one of them with the Word of God. Change your routine, and make a decision right now to begin that spiritual conditioning.

Start today and make speaking the Word part of your daily life. Try these confessions today:

  • Father, keep my tongue from evil. Help me to depart from evil, do good, seek peace and pursue it. (1 Peter 3:11)
  • I will walk in wisdom, and my speech will be filled with grace . (Colossians 4:6)
  • I guard what I say and keep myself from trouble. (Proverbs 13:3)
  • I always think about how to answer, even when I am upset. (Proverbs 21:23)
  • I give all my cares and troubles to the Lord. I don’t hold onto them or worry and become troubled. I know He takes care of me.  (Psalm 55:22)
  • I don’t look at or listen to anything that is not pleasing to God. If it is against His Word, I don’t let it into my life. (Psalm 101:3)
  • No matter what people around me say, no matter what the doctor says, I know that I know that I know that I am healed by the blood of Jesus! (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24)
  • I am not under the curse of sickness. I am not under the curse of poverty. I am not under the curse of lack. I am not under the curse of generational mistakes before me. I am not under the curse of strife. I am free, and I am blessed in Jesus’ Name!(Galatians 3:13)
  • I am not friends with the world. I don’t receive what the world has to say about me or my situation. My heart is fixed on the Word of God! (James 4:4)

Speak these words as a part of your daily routine. As you read your Bible each day, locate and highlight more to add to your collection. Then, watch your words, guard your heart and get results!

Jesus Hears Our Prayers

“Father, in the Name of Jesus I come before You today. I take authority over Satan and bind his operation in my life. I pray the eyes of my understanding are enlightened that I may know how rich is Your inheritance in the saints, that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, walking fully pleasing to You, increasing in the knowledge of You. Father, I pray I will be rooted and built up in Jesus, established in the faith. I am confident that You who began a good work in me will continue it until the day of Jesus Christ.

I know You have heard my prayer, so I know I have the petitions that I asked. Thank You in Jesus’ Name.”

Renew Your Hope

If you’ve faced overwhelming loss, repeated failures or betrayals of trust, hope may feel far from you. You know the key to receiving from God is standing in hope on His promises, yet you need supernatural help to get there.

God wants you to have hope—no matter what. His plans for you are exceedingly, abundantly above all you could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). But, He needs you to be on the same page He is, in line with His Word, to be in position to receive.

No matter how hopeless your situation may seem, you can have hope, and you can renew the hope and excitement for life you once had. Here is a prayer to help you get there:

“Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You that You are the God who has given us all hope through Christ Jesus, who won victory over every need and situation in our lives on the cross.

Lord, I thank You that I was healed of all hurts and disappointments that day, and I stand and receive deliverance from all fear in Jesus’ Name. I know You haven’t given me that spirit of fear, so I rebuke it right now and replace it with a supernatural spirit of expectancy.

Your Word says I am not to fear.  So, I am strong and courageous because You are with me, and I can have hope in Your unfailing love.

Today, I release the cares of all past failures, rejections, shortcomings and disappointments to You. Help me not to carry them anymore, but to look forward to the prize You have for me.

I plead the blood of Jesus over my hopes and dreams. I declare now that I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. Nothing can stop me from the plan You have for me but my own doubts and fears. So, I bind those up today and cast them into the sea. I lay hold of Your promises and stand on them as I build my hope once again.

Thank You, Father, for the hope that is in Christ Jesus.”

Amen.

Your hope is rising! Lay hold of God’s promises today, and receive His supernatural hope. Keep feeding on and speaking the Word over your life every day. Start dreaming again, and have the courage to believe!

To Walk In The Spirit

There is a key to enjoying everything in life you’ve always wanted. It isn’t a secret—it’s available to all who are willing to take the steps required to board the train of victory. Receiving salvation is a powerful and amazing gift, but it’s only the beginning. True—it opens the door to possibility, blessing, abundance and every good thing you could ever imagine, but open doors require one thing of you—to walk through them.

How do you walk through the door of supernatural blessing?

By living your life walking in the spirit. Sounds mysterious and unattainable, right?

The good news is—it’s right within your reach. The only equipment required: desire and commitment. You can walk in the spirit every day of your life. Here is a prayer to help you get there:

“Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You that You are the God of blessing, abundance and the supernatural. You are Almighty, the giver of every good and perfect gift. Lord, I stand before You now with a desire to go higher with You.

Father, Your Word says that to walk in the spirit, I need to throw off everything that hinders me. I ask You today to help me to identify and cast off every sin, thought or habit that is holding me back. If it is gossip, fear, sexual immorality, greed, envy or anything like them—I cast it out of my life right now in the Name of Jesus! I declare that I will not be a slave to anything that would try to hold me back from my blessing.

I present myself as a living sacrifice before You today and commit to put the flesh under the control of my spirit. I want to live the way You have called me to live, and I ask You now to give me the supernatural ability to do so. I ask for wisdom beyond my own ability, in Jesus’ Name.

I ask You to minister to my spirit the desire and drive to spend time praying in the spirit every single day. Help me not to give in to distractions that would keep me from fellowshiping with You. As I do this, I ask You to reveal to me mysteries and secrets that will promote and advance me in every area of my life.

Father, help me not to listen to the voice of the world, but to only hear and obey Your voice.

Thank You, Father, for the power of walking in the spirit.”

Amen.

Your life is changing! Lay hold of God’s promises today, and receive His supernatural help. Spend time with Him every day. Pray in the spirit, get rid of anything that doesn’t belong in your life, and start living the life you’ve always wanted!

To Hear From God

Life is full of twists and turns that require big decisions, small decisions, adjusting to major life changes, and tackling day-to-day living. It seems like there are plenty of people out there who are ready to give you advice—in books, on television, at the office. But, is that the counsel we really need?

If we entertain too many different influences, thoughts and opinions, it can lead to confusion. In the midst of it all, you may feel uncertain that you’re hearing the one voice you long to hear most—the voice of God.

God is a speaking God, and He speaks to His children every day. We have the wonderful opportunity to listen to Him and learn to hear His voice. We don’t have to go through life blindly making decisions or relying on our own abilities. We can hear Him clearly and consistently.

You can hear God’s voice every day and walk in the confidence of being led by the Spirit in your life. Here is a prayer to hear God’s voice you can pray in faith:

“Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You that You desire to speak to me every day—guiding me in spirit and in truth to obey Your Word and enjoy an abundant life. I thank You that You have called me Your friend and that I may come boldly to the throne of grace to find help whenever I have a need in my life.

Lord, Your Word says that when we draw near to You, You will draw near to us. So, I draw near to You today. I seek Your face, Your truth and Your word for my life. I want to know You more, hear You more and obey You more.

Your Word says Your sheep know Your voice and we will not follow the voice of a stranger. Help me to know Your voice and not be deceived by any other voice. Help me to guard my heart from the influences of this world and the people around me. Help me not to be deceived by the devil and his lies, but to view all thoughts and decisions through the lens of righteousness.

As I seek to hear You today for instruction, correction and guidance, help me to confirm Your voice through Your Word. You said if I ask for wisdom, You will give it to me liberally, so I am asking for wisdom in the Name of Jesus to hear You clearly and consistently today and every day.

Help me to feel confident in knowing that I hear Your voice.

I praise You and thank You for it, in Jesus’ Name.”

Amen.

When you seek the Lord with all your heart, and listen for His voice, you will always have the advice you need to face any circumstance. You will enjoy a powerful relationship with Him that will change your life. Begin to listen and be confident in knowing that He wants to speak to you and He wants you to hear His voice. You can hear from God!

Because of the Blood

Just what is the basis for the forgiveness God has extended to us?  First John 2:12 tells us the answer…”for His name’s sake.”  In other words, God has put His Name on an agreement.  He has given us His oath that, because Jesus poured out His blood and paid the price for sin, all men are forgiven in His sight.  He has put  His Name to a document which says He has reconciled the whole world to Himself by Jesus the Anointed, and He is no longer holding anyone’s sin against them.  (Read 2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

Why did God put His Name on that document?  Because of the blood of Jesus.  God forgives our sin because He honors the blood.  He has said,  I will accept any woman, any man, any child from any place in the world regardless of any sin they have committed.  I swore it in the blood and I will do it because of My Name.

Considering our sin, it would be just for God to say to us, “Get out of My sight.  What are you doing walking in here wanting to be a part of My family?  Look at your mean, ugly self!  Who do you think you are wanting to come into My heaven?”

But, praise God, He doesn’t consider our sin.  He considers the blood of Jesus.  He administers justice based on His blood-sworn oath of forgiveness and, because He honors that blood, He justifies us by wiping out all our sin.  The Bible says He remembers our sins no more!

Let me tell you, when I sin there is no way in this world I would go before the throne of grace asking God to forgive me on the basis of how many years I’ve been in the ministry.  I wouldn’t pull a dumb stunt like that.  I’ll just go in and plead the blood of Jesus, because I know God honors the blood.

That’s where my faith rests.  I don’t have to wonder what God is going to do.  I don’t have to wonder if He will forgive me.  I know He will because He swore it in the blood of His own Son.

Don’t Shoot!!

In Psalm 64:3, David compared words to arrows.  The wicked, he said, “sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows – bitter words.”

I was reminded of this comparison some years ago when I was given a compound bow and a set of razor-tipped arrows.  Because of its power and the sharpness of the arrows, this bow is a lethal weapon.  Consequently, I have to be careful how I use it.

As long as I have the bowstring in my hand, I’m in control of the arrow.  But the moment I release the string, it’s no longer in my control.  The arrow will simply go where it was pointed.  I cannot get it back or slow it down.  Once I’ve loosed it, it’s on its way to a target.

And that’s exactly how words are.  As long as words are in your mind and in your heart, as long as you haven’t spoken them, you’ve got your hand on the bowstring.  You’re still in control.  You can let the bow back down and not shoot at all.  But if you let go of the string – speak the words – the arrow flies.  There is no way you can recall words once they’re spoken.

And if your words are ‘deadly arrows’, they may do unintended harm.

Suppose I carry my bow to work some morning when I’m angry and just start shooting arrows in every direction.  What happens?  When I cool off and look, I see people lying all around with arrows sticking out of them.

Of course, I can run over to the nearest victim and apologize.  “Oh, man, I’m sorry.  I was upset about something.  I didn’t mean to shoot you.  I wasn’t even thinking about you.  I was just shooting.  I’m sorry!”

But the trouble is – you’ve still shot the arrows!  I can pull the arrow out and pour oil and wine over the wound, but no matter how much I apologize, I can’t unsay the words that wounded you.  You’re still shot, and I have some idle words to give account of to God.  Matthew 12:36 – “But I say to you that for every idle word that men speak, they will give an account on the Day of Judgment.”

We can avoid disasters like this by following the principles in God’s Word.  Proverbs 15:28 says “The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.”  And James 1:19 tells us to be “slow to speak..”.

So, the next time you’re tempted to “shoot off your mouth”, stop and consider whether your words may become “deadly arrows”.  Study the effect of your words before you speak, and then you won’t have to apologize for them later.

Ancient Book of Jasher 15 – Abram in Egypt (The Famine)

  1. 2023 AM – A great famine And in that year there was a heavy famine throughout the land of Canaan, and the inhabitants of the land could not remain on account of the famine for it was very grievous.
  2. And Abram and all belonging to him rose and went down to Egypt on account of the famine, and when they were at the brook Mitzraim they remained there some time to rest from the fatigue of the road.
  3. And Abram and Sarai were walking at the border of the brook Metzraim, and Abram beheld his wife Sarai that she was very beautiful.
  4. And Abram said to his wife Sarai, Since God has created thee with such a beautiful countenance, I am afraid of the Egyptians lest they should slay me and take thee away, for the fear of God is not in these places.
  5. Surely then thou shalt do this, Say thou art my sister to all that may ask thee, in order that it may be well with me, and that we may live and not be put to death.
  6. And Abram commanded the same to all those that came with him to Egypt on account of the famine; also his nephew Lot he commanded, saying, If the Egyptians ask thee concerning Sarai say she is the sister of Abram.
  7. And yet with all these orders Abram did not put confidence in them, but he took Sarai and placed her in a chest and concealed it amongst their vessels, for Abram was greatly concerned about Sarai on account of the wickedness of the Egyptians.
  8. And Abram and all belonging to him rose up from the brook Mitzraim and came to Egypt; and they had scarcely entered the gates of the city when the guards stood up to them saying, Give tithe to the king from what you have, and then you may come into the town; and Abram and those that were with him did so.
  9. And Abram with the people that were with him came to Egypt, and when they came they brought the chest in which Sarai was concealed and the Egyptians saw the chest.
  10. And the king’s servants approached Abram, saying, What hast thou here in this chest which we have not seen? Now open thou the chest and give tithe to the king of all that it contains.
  11. And Abram said, This chest I will not open, but all you demand upon it I will give. And Pharaoh’s officers answered Abram, saying, It is a chest of precious stones, give us the tenth thereof.
  12. Abram said, All that you desire I will give, but you must not open the chest.
  13. And the king’s officers pressed Abram, and they reached the chest and opened it with force, and they saw, and behold a beautiful woman was in the chest.
  14. And when the officers of the king beheld Sarai they were struck with admiration at her beauty, and all the princes and servants of Pharaoh assembled to see Sarai, for she was very beautiful. And the king’s officers ran and told Pharaoh all that they had seen, and they praised Sarai to the king; and Pharaoh ordered her to be brought, and the woman came before the king.
  15. And Pharaoh beheld Sarai and she pleased him exceedingly, and he was struck with her beauty, and the king rejoiced greatly on her account, and made presents to those who brought him the tidings concerning her.
  16. And the woman was then brought to Pharaoh’s house, and Abram grieved on account of his wife, and he prayed to the Lord to deliver her from the hands of Pharaoh.
  17. And Sarai also prayed at that time and said, O Lord God thou didst tell my Lord Abram to go from his land and from his father’s house to the land of Canaan, and thou didst promise to do well with him if he would perform thy commands; now behold we have done that which thou didst command us, and we left our land and our families, and we went to a strange land and to a people whom we have not known before.
  18. And we came to this land to avoid the famine, and this evil accident has befallen me; now therefore, O Lord God, deliver us and save us from the hand of this oppressor, and do well with me for the sake of thy mercy.
  19. And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Sarai, and the Lord sent an angel to deliver Sarai from the power of Pharaoh.
  20. And the king came and sat before Sarai and behold an angel of the Lord was standing over them, and he appeared to Sarai and said to her, Do not fear, for the Lord has heard thy prayer.
  21. And the king approached Sarai and said to her, What is that man to thee who brought thee hither? And she said, He is my brother.
  22. And the king said, It is incumbent upon us to make him great, to elevate him and to do unto him all the good which thou shalt command us; and at that time the king sent to Abram silver and gold and precious stones of abundance, together with cattle, men servants and maid servants; and the king ordered Abram to be brought, and he sat in the court of the king’s home, and the king greatly exalted Abram on that night.
  23. And the king approached to speak to Sarai, and he reached out his hand to touch her, when the angel smote him heavily, and he was terrified and he refrained from reaching to her.
  24. And when the king came near to Sarai, the angel smote him to the ground, and acted thus to him the whole night, and the king was terrified.
  25. And the angel on that night smote heavily all the servants of the king, and his whole household, on account of Sarai, and there was a great lamentation that night amongst the people of Pharaoh’s house.
  26. And Pharaoh, seeing the evil that befell him, said, Surely on account of this woman has this thing happened to me, and he removed himself at some distance from her and spoke pleasing words to her.
  27. And the king said to Sarai, Tell me I pray thee concerning the man with whom thou camest here; and Sarai said, This man is my husband, and I said to thee that he was my brother for I was afraid, lest thou shouldst put him to death through wickedness.
  28. And the king kept away from Sarai, and the plagues of the angel of the Lord ceased from him and his household; and Pharaoh knew that he was smitten on account of Sarai, and the king was greatly astonished at this.
  29. And in the morning the king called for Abram and said to him, What is this thou hast done to me? Why didst thou say, She is my sister, owing to which I took her unto me for a wife, and this heavy plague has therefore come upon me and my household.
  30. Now therefore here is thy wife, take her and go from our land lest we all die on her account. And Pharaoh took more cattle, men servants and maid servants, and silver and gold, to give to Abram, and he returned unto him Sarai his wife.
  31. And the king took a maiden whom he begat by his concubines, and he gave her to Sarai for a handmaid.
  32. And the king said to his daughter, It is better for thee my daughter to be a handmaid in this man’s house than to be mistress in my house, after we have beheld the evil that befell us on account of this woman.
  33. And Abram arose, and he and all belonging to him went away from Egypt; and Pharaoh ordered some of his men to accompany him and all that went with him.
  34. And Abram returned to the land of Canaan, to the place where he had made the altar, where he at first had pitched his tent.
  35. And Lot the son of Haran, Abram’s brother, had a heavy stock of cattle, flocks, and herds and tents, for the Lord was bountiful to them on account of Abram.
  36. And when Abram was dwelling in the land the herdsmen of Lot quarreled with the herdsmen of Abram, for their property was too great for them to remain together in the land, and the land could not bear them on account of their cattle.
  37. And when Abram’s herdsmen went to feed their flock they would not go into the fields of the people of the land, but the cattle of Lot’s herdsmen did otherwise, for they were suffered to feed in the fields of the people of the land.
  38. And the people of the land saw this occurrence daily, and they came to Abram and quarreled with him on account of Lot’s herdsmen.
  39. And Abram said to Lot, What is this thou art doing to me, to make me despicable to the inhabitants of the land, that thou orderest thy herdsmen to feed thy cattle in the fields of other people? Dost thou not know that I am a stranger in this land amongst the children of Canaan, and why wilt thou do this unto me?
  40. And Abram quarreled daily with Lot on account of this, but Lot would not listen to Abram, and he continued to do the same and the inhabitants of the land came and told Abram.
  41. And Abram said unto Lot, How long wilt thou be to me for a stumbling block with the inhabitants of the land? Now I beseech thee let there be no more quarrelling between us, for we are kinsman.
  42. But I pray thee separate from me, go and choose a place where thou mayest dwell with thy cattle and all belonging to thee, but Keep thyself at a distance from me, thou and thy household.
  43. And be not afraid in going from me, for if anyone do an injury to thee, let me know and I will avenge thy cause from him, only remove from me.
  44. And when Abram had spoken all these words to Lot, then Lot arose and lifted up his eyes toward the plain of Jordan.
  45. And he saw that the whole of this place was well watered, and good for man as well as affording pasture for the cattle.
  46. And Lot went from Abram to that place, and he there pitched his tent and he dwelt in Sodom, and they were separated from each other.
  47. And Abram dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and he pitched his tent there, and Abram remained in that place many years.

Ancient Book Of Jasher 13 – Abram in Canaan

  1. And Terach took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the wife of his son Abram, and all the souls of his household and went with them from Ur Kasdim to go to the land of Canaan. And when they came as far as the land of Haran they remained there, for it was exceedingly good land for pasture, and of sufficient extent for those who accompanied them.
  2. And the people of the land of Haran saw that Abram was good and upright with God and men, and that the Lord his God was with him, and some of the people of the land of Haran came and joined Abram, and he taught them the instruction of the Lord and His ways; and these men remained with Abram in his house and they adhered to him.
  3. 2003 AM – Abram leaves Haran And Abram remained in the land three years, and at the expiration of three years the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him; I am the Lord who brought thee forth from Ur Kasdim, and delivered thee from the hands of all the enemies.
  4. And now therefore if thou wilt hearken to my voice and keep my commandments, my statues and my laws, then will I cause thy enemies to fall before thee, and I will multiply thy seed like the stars of heaven, and I will send my blessing upon all the works of thy hands, and thou shalt lack nothing.
  5. Arise now, take thy wife and all belonging to thee and go to the land of Canaan and remain there, and I will there be unto thee for a God, and I will bless thee. And Abram rose and took his wife and all belonging to him, and he went to the land of Canaan as the Lord had told him; and Abram was fifty (55) years old when he went from Haran.
  6. And Abram came to the land of Canaan and dwelt in the midst of the city, and he there pitched his tent amongst the children of Canaan, inhabitants of the land.
  7. And the Lord appeared to Abram when he came to the land of Canaan, and said to him, This is the land which I gave unto thee and to thy seed after thee forever, and I will make thy seed like the stars of heaven, and I will give unto thy seed for an inheritance all the lands which thou seest.
  8. And Abram built an altar in the place where God had spoken to him, and Abram there called upon the name of the Lord.
  9. 2006 AM – Sodom and Gomorrah revolt At that time, at the end of three years of Abram’s dwelling in the land of Canaan, in that year Noah died, which was the fifty-eighth year of the life of Abram; and all the days that Noah lived were nine hundred and fifty years and he died.
  10. And Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, he, his wife, and all belonging to him, and all those that accompanied him, together with those that joined him from the people of the land; but Nahor, Abram’s brother, and Terah his father, and Lot the son of Haran and all belonging to them dwelt in Haran.
  11. 2008 AM – Sodom and Gomorrah revolt In the fifth year of Abram’s dwelling in the land of Canaan the people of Sodom and Gomorrah and all the cities of the plain revolted from the power of Chedorlaomer, king of Elam; for all the kings of the cities of the plan had served Chedorlaomer for twelve years and given him a yearly tax, but in those days in the thirteen year, they rebelled against him.
  12. 2013 AM – Elam conquers Babel And in the tenth year of Abram’s dwelling in the land of Canaan there was war between Nimrod king of Shinar and Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Nimrod came to fight with Chedorlaomer and to subdue him.
  13. For Chedorlaomer was at that time one of the princes of the hosts of Nimrod, and when all the people at the tower were dispersed and those that remained were also scattered upon the face of the earth, Chedorlaomer went to the land of Elam and reigned over it and rebelled against his lord.
  14. And in those days when Nimrod saw that the cities of the plain had rebelled, he came with pride and anger to war with Chedorlaomer, and Nimrod assembled all his princes and subjects, about seven hundred thousand men, and went against Chedorlaomer, and Chedorlaomer went out to meet him with five thousand men, and they prepared for battle in the valley of Babel which is between Elam and Shinar.
  15. And all those kings fought there, and Nimrod and his people were smitten before the people of Chedorlaomer, and they fell from Nimrod’s men about six hundred thousand, and Mardon the king’s son fell amongst them.
  16. And Nimrod fled and returned in shame and disgrace to his land, and he was under subjection to Chedorlaomer for a long time, and Chedorlaomer returned to his land and sent princes of his host to the kings that dwelt around him, to Aarioch king of Elasar, and to Tidal king of Goyim, and made a covenant with them, and they were all obedient to his commands.
  17. 2018 AM – 430-year prophesy given And it was in the fifteenth year of Abram’s dwelling in the land of Canaan, which is the seventieth year of the life of Abram, and the Lord appeared to Abram in that year and he said to him, I am the Lord who brought thee out from Ur Kasdim to give thee this land for an inheritance.
  18. Now therefore walk before me and be perfect and keep my commands, for to thee and to thy seed I will give this land for an inheritance, from the river Mitzraim unto the great river Euphrates.
  19. And thou shalt come to thy fathers in peace and in good age, and the fourth generation shall return here in this land and shall inherit it forever; and Abram built an altar, and he called upon the name of the Lord who appeared to him, and he brought up sacrifices upon the altar to the Lord.
  20. 2023 AM – Abram moves back to Haran At that time Abram returned and went to Haran to see his father and mother, and his father’s household, and Abram and his wife and all belonging to him returned to Haran, and Abram dwelt in Haran five years.
  21. And many of the people of Haran, about seventy-two men, followed Abram and Abram taught them the instruction of the Lord and his ways, and he taught them to know the Lord.
  22. 2023 AM – Abram returns to Canaan at age 75 In those days the Lord appeared to Abram in Haran, and he said to him, Behold, I spoke unto thee these twenty years back saying,
  23. Go forth from thy land, from thy birth-place and from thy father’s house, to the land which I have shown thee to give it to thee, and to thy children, for there in that land will I bless thee, and make thee a great nation, and make thy name great, and in thee shall the families of the earth be blessed.
  24. Now therefore arise, go forth from this place, thou, thy wife, and all belonging to thee, also every one born in thy house and all the souls thou last made in Haran, and bring them out with thee from here, and rise to return to the land of Canaan.
  25. And Abram went and returned to the land of Canaan, according to the word of the Lord. And Lot the son of his brother Haran went with him, and Abram was seventy-five years old when he went forth from Haran to return to the land of Canaan.
  26. And Abram went and returned to the land of Canaan, according to the word of the Lord. And Lot the son of his brother Haran went with him, and Abram was seventy-five years old when he went forth from Haran to return to the land of Canaan.
  27. And he came to the land of Canaan according to the word of the Lord to Abram, and he pitched his tent and he dwelt in the plain of Mamre, and with him was Lot his brother’s son, and all belonging to him.
  28. And the Lord again appeared to Abram and said, To thy seed with I give this land; and he there built an altar to the Lord who appeared to him, which is still to this day in the plains of Mamre.

The Power of Your Words

Have you ever noticed in the Bible that most of God’s champions who were facing a challenge or in the middle of a battle, commonly referred to as a “faith fight”, had to say something that sounded totally ridiculous to the natural mind before they received their victory?

Here are a few examples:

  • Daniel 3:17-18: “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to “deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”
  • 1 Samuel 17:46: “This day the Lord will deliver you unto my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”
  • Luke 8:52-53: “Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.” And they laughed Him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.”

How about in the Old Testament where the only son of a couple had died? The mother took the son and laid him on the bed of the prophet who would stay in their home when he came through that part of the country. She didn’t tell her husband that the young lad was dead. In fact, she said, “All is well” (2Kings 4:26). Now if that didn’t qualify for a lie, I don’t know what does!

To the natural mind or intellect, their words were ridiculous. What would compel three young Hebrew men confronted with certain death in a hot fiery furnace to defy the king and declare their God would deliver them?

How could David, a young shepherd boy who was never trained for battle, fearlessly face a nine-foot giant whose armor alone weighed almost 125 pounds, and declare he was cutting off his head? David was probably no taller than Goliath’s waist! And how could Jesus say that the daughter of the ruler of the synagogue was only sleeping when everyone else had declared her graveyard dead?

Jesus said, “But since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke”, we also believe and therefore speak.”

What you truly believe, which is based on the image on the inside of you, will eventually be revealed by your words. Luke wrote, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45).

Here’s a kingdom principle that many Christians sometimes miss: To change our inner image, we often have to say the ridiculous before we believe the impossible. That is, we have to say what God says even when there is no physical evidence that it’s yet true. But the more we say it, the more we are making good deposits (treasure) in our hearts and changing our image. One man said, “Faith often puts you in a place of ridicule” …but not for long!!.

2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Temporary means brief, fleeting or subject to change. The change, however, is not automatic. As believers, we have a part to play in creating the change we desire. We must do, or more accurately, say something that may sound ridiculous or absurd. It doesn’t make sense, but it will eventually make FAITH, if we keep saying it.

Through words, we shape the unseen and change the seen. Many Christians don’t understand that their words have the power to bring life or destroy it and that the source of many of their problems, and conversely their answers, is an inch below their nose – their mouth.

The Bible says, “death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). Notice, the verse didn’t say the power was in the devil or other people or the government. No! It said the power was in the tongue.

Words are the most powerful weapons in our kingdom arsenal to dominate this earth and to enforce the victory that Jesus died to give us.  This is why the devil will try to put pressure on us to say wrong things (something God didn’t say) when we are in a faith fight.

For example, if you are believing God for healing in your body, don’t speak the problem or the symptoms, Don’t look at the things which are seen. This is what the woman with the issue of blood did in Mark 5:25-28: “Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment; for she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”

Some translations say that “she kept saying.” Her words probably sounded ridiculous to those around her. I can hear some of her unbelieving friends now, “Girl, you think you’re just going to touch Jesus’ clothes and be healed? Are you crazy? You better stay inside this house before you get stoned.”

This woman had a “grow worse” image for twelve years. But she took faith-filled words and destroyed her negative inner image, shaping the unseen and changing the seen… “Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.” (verse 29) As long as she kept her new image, sickness could never again dominate her body.

Remember, what you believe is what you become…and where you will end up. To experience God’s redemptive plan for our lives (prosperity, peace, healing, wholeness), we must have the right inner image or belief system. Ask yourself, “Like this woman with the issue of blood, do I have a wrong self-image that is blocking God’s redemptive blessings in my life? Am I blaming the devil, other people or the government for the financial situation I’m in, instead of changing what I’m believing and speaking?”

As born-again believers, we are made like God, and God used words to create everything in and on this planet. Genesis 1:1-28 – Each time God created something new, we read, “Then God said.” God’s original purpose for words was more for creation than for communication. AND THIS PURPOSE HAS NOT CHANGED!!! Speaking God’s Word in faith first brings “Heaven to Earth” in our spirits, creating the image of what God has already created and provided in heaven. Then, when we speak based on that image, the Holy Spirit brings that word to pass in the earth.

Jesus had to teach this principle to His disciples in Mark 11:23, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

Jesus had spoken to a fig tree the day before, saying, “No one ever again shall eat fruit from you” (Mark 11:14). The Bible says the disciples were listening to His words. I can imagine that some of His disciples thought that talking to a tree was a little crazy.   But they didn’t think it was crazy the next day when they saw the tree had withered from its roots.

I remember working this principle years ago when my car wouldn’t start on one very cold Chicago morning. I knew according to Mark 11:23 that I had the authority to speak to things. So I went outside, looked around to see if anyone was watching me (trying to avoid shame and ridicule) and told my car to start in the Name of Jesus. I went back inside the house and waited for a few minutes. When I came back out the car turned over like it was brand new. Praise God!!

Shaping the unseen and changing the seen is important for every believer to live a life of victory. Romans 10:8 describes how this God-given process works, “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach: For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (unto deliverance, unto healing, unto preservation and soundness.” In other words…say it until you see it. DON’T GIVE UP! The enemy might try to convince you that it’s not working when it is. Cast down the images that satan tries to put in your mind. We, as believers, are designed and expected to think and talk like God.

James gives further understanding as to the power of your words when he compares the tongue to bits in horses’ mouths and to the rudder of a ship. James 3:3-5 “Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.”

He is saying, just as one can pull the reins of a horse and direct him or use a small rudder to turn a huge ship, you can use your tongue to speak God’s Word and control the destiny of your life, no matter how great the forces are that might come against you.

So, to get rid of the seen or what you don’t desire and replace it with what you do desire, God’s precious promises, you must get your mind and your spirit programmed with the Word of God that will reject anything that doesn’t agree with God’s Word. Now you’re ready to change the see. What you speak is what God will deliver. This is a spiritual law and it WORKS EVERY TIME. (See Mark 11:23)

Find a promise from God that meets a need you may have and begin to speak it. Say it until you believe it. Then decree it because you believe. “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways.” Job 22:28) And I might add…no matter how impossible.
